2015:Christian leaders warn politicians to shun violence

From Taiwo Oluwadare, Ibadan
The President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) worldwide, Pastor Abraham Akinosun has warned politicians to shun violence as 2015 general elections draw near in order to avoid the wrath of God.

Akinosun issued the warning yesterday during his christmas message delivered at this year's Christmas Carol in All Saints' Chapel, Basorun, Ibadan.

He said the caution was necessary to avoid calamity, adding that politicians should look unto God for survival, joy, salvation and other good things and not place themselves on people as their lords.

His words:"The God says look unto me all yea nations for I'm God. If politicians should kill or maim, wrath of God may fall but if they shun all negative acts, God will intervene positively in Nigerian situation".

Also the at a press conference organized by Christian Leadership Mobilization Initiative (CLMI), the president, Pastor Niyi Ojedokun said that the prediction that Nigerian will break in 2015 shall come to nought. He however noted that elections were the basic and true test of quality democracy.

Ojedokun said a free, fair and violence free election is a reflection of the maturity of the people involved adding that politicians, supporters, voters and organisers should ensure they do not become spectacles of violence and rancour.

According to the man of God, CLMI is committed to ensuring that whoever is contesting any elective position is investigated for their credibility and agenda and to be known and announced to adequately guide fellow citizens and guard against fragile religious relationships.

He however took a swipe at elected office holders who threaten religious harmony, alleging that government are now making policies that are anti-christian.

He therefore called on all christians to participate actively in politics as a way of taking what belonged to them and not to see politics as a dirty game as some christians do.
